Background

The Prevent CSA Programme envisions a world where child sexual abuse and exploitation are prevented. The team works to end child sexual abuse and exploitation, online and off-line. We promote solutions and advance actions to strengthen prevention, and we strive to end impunity and create strong accountability for child sexual abuse where it occurs. We believe that together we can shift the paradigm from silence and neglect to prevention, scaled response, visibility, and accountability.

 

We work through two sub-programmes that: (1) promote, scale and advance solutions to reduce child sexual abuse; and (2) hold global institutions accountable to prevent abuse and to end impunity for child sexual abuse. http://oakfnd.org/prevent-child-sexual-abuse.html

 

The Programme Associate will work closely with the Solutions and Advancing Action team and also support the Prevent CSA team’s monitoring, learning and evaluation work.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Under the supervision of a Programme Officer, manages a small grant portfolio as delegated, ensuring alignment with programme strategies and compliance with Oak’s grant management system and related grant-making procedures. This includes: handling the day-to-day responsibilities of a grant portfolio from initial inquiry to assessment to final recommendation; conducting site visits; monitoring grant implementation; and reporting on and closing grants;
  • Conducts research on issues in the field and on potential new partners;
  • Contributes to the strategic development and implementation of the programme including participating in planning exercises and professional conferences and seminars;
  • Supports the sub-programme “Solutions and Advancing Action” by assisting with the preparation of relevant reports, briefings and presentations for the Foundation’s purposes, as well as financial and other detailed sub-programme level analysis;
  • Maintains and manages day to day operations of the Programme’s Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation System;
  • Supports the sub-programme in organising internal and external meetings, and partner/ expert convenings; and
  • Performs all other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time, including administrative support.

 

Position Requirements

  • A university degree in a related field. (An advanced degree will count for 1 year of work experience.);
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience working for a non-profit or development organization, ideally with international experience;
  • Experience working in monitoring, evaluation and learning and/or campaigning and advocacy would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of the violence prevention desired;
  • Ability to juggle a wide range of responsibilities that may demand ongoing reprioritization;
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Poise, maturity, warmth, curiosity, humility, and a good sense of humour;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. A second major language and/or a region-specific expertise would be an asset;
  • Demonstrated openness and capacity to learn quickly;
  • Confidence and presence to conduct meetings with high profile external audiences;
  • Excellent computer skills (Office, e-mail, database management, desk research);
  • Willingness to travel, up to a maximum of 20 percent per year;

  • To be considered for this position, you should hold Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit

 

Reporting Lines

The position will be based in Geneva, Switzerland and reports to a Prevent CSA Programme Officer in the Solutions and Advancing Action sub-programme. Frequent interactions with the Programme’s Director, Oak’s President and Prevent CSA Trustees will also be required.
