Letters of Enquiry Guidelines

Oak Foundation has a continuous approval process so letters of enquiry may be submitted at any time. We will respond within three months, informing the applicant whether there is sufficient interest to pursue a formal proposal. If so, we will request additional information from the organisation. Please be aware that submitting a request does not assure financial support.

Before submitting a letter of enquiry, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Review Oak Foundation's Grant-making Criteria

Read Oak Foundation's grant-making criteria, review previous grants in our Grant Database and assess whether you meet the general requirements of the Foundation.

Step 2: Submit a Letter of Enquiry

Organisations who are interested in seeking a grant are advised to provide a concept note of no more than 5 (five) pages in length, in Word.doc format, electronically.

To expedite the process, please ensure that the concept note includes the following information:

• A summary of the goals and budget of your organisation
• A description of the duration, objective, and activities of the project for which you seek funding
• Location of the project and description of the target population
• Amount of the grant requested and total cost of the project
• Actual or potential co-funders

Funding Restrictions

We do not provide support to religious organisations for religious purposes, election campaigns or general fund-raising drives.

Please note that we do not fund individuals, and do not provide funding for scholarships or tuition assistance for undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
