To engage and support Indian civil institutions in promoting and implementing greener energy and transportation policies with a view to reducing India's carbon emissions trajectory. To forge critical relationships and promote early learning that could inform the strategy of the India Sustainable Energy Foundation, envisaged as part of the ClimateWorks' global network.

To challenge India's largest utility to change its energy mix and trigger a national debate on over-reliance on coal and climate change. Additionally to discredit coal as a cheap energy source and remove the public sanction for coal by investigating and publishing research on its hidden costs. To mobilise political voices to increase the national political demand for climate action and to advocate for self-imposed carbon reduction targets. (Over two years)
