To continue support of the Aquarium's Marine Conservation Action Fund which provides 'rapid response' funding; as well as professional and technical assistance; for small-scale, time-sensitive, community-based programmes that address urgent, aquatic conservation problems worldwide. Pew Charitable Trusts
- To protect sharks from the fishing fleets of the EU and to win new EU support for shark conservation. This campaign is targeted specifically towards strengthening shark conservation policies of the EU and to promote new conservation measures throughout the world. (Over two years)
- To establish at least three large, world-class marine-protected areas over the next decade. (Over five years)
- To create a coalition of NGOs, and other like-minded entities who will attempt to reverse the current trend in non-sustainable deep-sea fishing practices. The campaign expects to secure a United Nations General Assembly resolution that will establish a moratorium on about 75 per cent of the high seas.
- To ensure a fully precautionary, enforceable and ecosystem-based management of Antarctic krill as a way to protect the Antarctic marine environment and its iconic species. (Over two years)
