To reduce global warming pollution from the Northeast’s major emitters – power plants, cars and trucks – by implementing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative in four to six states, winning commitments from three to four governors to reduce emissions from vehicles by controlling vehicle miles travelled, and from three governors to dramatically increase energy conservation and efficiency. (Over two years)

Clean Air-Cool Planet
To expand its core programmes working with communities, corporations, and universities in the US to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. (Over two years)

Clean Air Task Force
• To strengthen the New England Diesel Initiative with additional resources to help it achieve diesel emission reductions of 75 per cent in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island by 2020. (Over two years)
• To support a study that will measure black carbon deposition and its impact on Arctic snow and ice in an effort to better understand the effect black carbon has on the Arctic climate.

Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies
To work with businesses and investors in the Northeast of the US and in Canada on climate change and to launch a campaign with Co-op America to build consumer and individual investor support. (Over two years)

Connecticut Fund for the Environment
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions from light-duty vehicles through a comprehensive clean car initiative. (Over two years)

To reduce Atlantic Canada’s electricity sector’s contribution to greenhouse gas emissions by promoting the creation of consistently funded energy efficiency agencies in each province and developing a regional strategy for sustainable energy development.

To identify possible sites that are suitable for alternative electricity generation on Vancouver Island, based on low electricity transmission distances, high site potential, and low ecological and cultural impact.
