Eastern Europe: Latvia

• Latvia Red Cross Valka District Committee

  To provide assistance to children at risk of abuse or who have been abused, through preventive and social activities such as: psychological consultation, family monitoring and social/ethnic integration. In addition, to contribute to the development of a network of local stakeholders. (Over two years)

• Skalbes Society

  To establish a child protection network in Latvia and to provide access for children who are in crisis to a toll-free help line.

Active Grants From Previous Years

• Talsi Evangelical Lutheran Parish

  To support a three-prong approach in preventing child abuse in families by training social workers, by training youth volunteers, and by strengthening the capacity of the Talsi Crisis Centre for women and children. (Second year of three-year grant)

• Ventspils Children and Teenagers Center

  To establish a 24-hour centre for children and families with children and to support the Day Centre to prevent crisis situations and provide rehabilitation of children and families with children in crisis situations. (Second year of two-year grant)
